Advertising photography is the photography of ideas. Bill Bernbach once said, “An idea can turn to dust, or magic, depending on the talent that rubs against it.”

My approach is to deliver that perfect moment of understanding or enlightenment in a way that makes the viewer, not the photograph, the hero of the narrative. I approach ideas from a desired outcome perspective. With commercial photography I am always aiming to elicit the desired response from your audience, whether that’s ‘I want’ or ‘I must have’. It’s not simply a picture of a thing. The key to creating compelling advertising imagery begins with listening and understanding the brief, asking questions, discussing, collaborating to interpret the brief, advising on a course of action, and then executing it perfectly.

When I shoot with clients regularly, an additional phase of post campaign analysis and discussion helps to build in a dedication to continuous improvement.  My strength as a conceptual photographer lies in understanding a client or agency’s core idea and interpreting it in a visual context using light, lensing and camera angles to tell a compelling visual story that reinforces the idea. I have a reputation for quality and reliability, and an enviable track record of over-delivering on expectations from local interest shoots to full international campaigns.
